Congratulations on your pregnancy! It’s time to prepare for your Tampa Maternity Session.
Your sweet baby is ready to enter the world and join your family and you’re probably already thinking of a hundred other things that you need to be doing before they arrive.
From nurseries, to baby showers, and getting everything packed in the hospital bag, sometimes the maternity photo session falls last on the list. You deserve to have this part of your legacy documented, so make sure you don’t forget it. I know you’re a busy mama, so I have compiled an easy list of 3 key things to do to help better prepare for a maternity session.
If you’ve never had a maternity session done before (or even if you have), I have put together a short list of how to prepare for your Tampa maternity session.

3 Simple things to do To prePare for A Tampa Maternity Session

1. Schedule Early
As a busy mama myself, I understand busy. When you’re in the thick of Motherhood and juggling life it is hard to remember to book things early, so I recommend scheduling as soon as the end of your first trimester or beginning of the second.
For instance, the best time to photograph your Maternity session will be from 28-32 weeks because that is the most comfortable time for most mamas. Your bump will be showing just enough and you won’t be at that tired point in the pregnancy. I do take clients later than 32 weeks, but notice that mamas tend to get uncomfortable easy and don’t want to stand for long periods of time.

2. Don’t stress over Clothing
Finding clothes tends to be one of the biggest stressors of any type of photo session. For that reason, I have a client closet available to my expectant mothers with Maternity gowns ranging from sizes One size to XL. I want each one of my client’s to feel good about themselves the day of their session, so I have stocked my closet with beautiful gowns that will make you feel glamorous.
In the case you can’t find a dress you love in my client closet, I recommend going with simple, flowy dresses that accentuate your bump. It’s recommended that you purchase nude undergarments so you won’t have to worry about straps or lines showing.
Adding the family in for some shots? Remember these simple rules:
Coordinate, not matching
No logos – keep it simple with solids and some patterns
Look to the season’s colors
Above all else, simplicity is always better and will give you classic, timeless images.
If you’d like to shop for your own dresses, here are some of my favorite dress brands that work well for maternity dresses:

3. Pamper Yourself
A great recommendation is that mama’s pamper themselves the week before a Maternity photo session because it gives them a confidence boost before their big day! Even something as simple as a manicure or pedicure can make a woman feel good! Am I right?
If you are interested in hair and makeup before your session, It is always best to book that in advance because most hair and makeup artists book quickly with weddings. Once again, simplicity is best and Florida heat can be brutal.
Need some additional ideas of pampering? I’ve got you!
- Take a relaxing bath
- Make sure you get a good nights rest
- Stay well hydrated
I hope these tips helped you Prepare for a maternity session
In conclusion, it is easier said than done to not worry about your photo session, but as a maternity photographer I will gently guide you through your session, help pose you in a flattering way, and make you feel beautiful.
